Live Brief with CCA
For this project, we had to represent the core values of CCA. We had to create a higher-quality animatic with one of the scenes fully animated.
Final Concept
Synopsis
It’s a rainy day. The main character is standing in the bathroom and looking at themselves in the mirror. They are unhappy because all they can think about is the cracks that are all over their body. They don’t feel beautiful.
(In the meantime, we hear white noise in the background – a way to portray that they are so focused on their “flaw” and are not paying attention to their surroundings)
Their attentions is attracted by a ray of sunshine hitting their face. They look through the window and notice that the rain is now gone, and the melody of birds chirping (representing music) enters the room. The melody travels down their body and thus making their foot tap to the rhythm (representing dance/performing arts).
They look back at the mirror slightly confused this time because they feel something. It’s a good feeling. “Drop!” – a sound of the tap dripping attracts their attention. With the corner of the eye they notice a kintsugi plate sitting on the side. They start looking back and forth – to themselves and back to the plate - because they have just realized something. They grab a paintbrush (that’s been introduced to us earlier), dip it into the sunlight and start painting. (This scene is shown in shown in really short episodes showing that art helps us ”zone-out” and forget all our problems.)
At last, the character is revealed happy and with all of their cracks now filled with gold.
